A day of discovery in the Pic Saint-Loup in the most beautiful machine to go back in time: our heritage...

"A journey through time and space"

We arrived at the Tourist Office car park just before 10am, where we were greeted by Ingrid and Ludovic, our charming guides for the day. They promised us a trip "in time and space", and as they are archaeologists, we really wanted to believe them!

After more than 2h30 of walk, we finally settle down (in the shade) to picnic. And it's a good thing because we are dying of hunger! On the menu, our guides pamper us: products of the small local producers we discover and especially, a small organic rosé of the soil to water it all!

We are happy to finish the morning on this absolute relaxation, although maybe a little bit tipsy...

A history of nature

As they walk through the garrigue, Ingrid and Ludovic tell us its history, a history that is above all human.
At the bend in the shrubs and paths, they let us smell and taste the essences, talk to us about geology and landscape and we could spend hours there if the sun didn't call us to order (really, bring a cap. I saw my husband blushing at sight)!

When we arrived at the edge of the Lez (a river that runs all the way to Montpellier), Ludovic and Ingrid told us about its life, its diversity... for its beauty, you just have to open your eyes.

Welcome to Viking land!

This afternoon, it's archaeological activity! Today's session is about a board game, but not just any game, a Viking game please! Ludovic and Ingrid ask us, what do we know about the Vikings? We were intrigued by the activity but apart from the barbarians and the ships, we are a bit out of it... It doesn't matter they tell us, we'll get you back on track!

This is the case, since with stories and anecdotes, they immerse us in the culture of this people as much as in the history of the games. It's a mine of information, and you can't help but ask all the questions that come to mind!

They always answer with humour and kindness, and we regret not having followed this childhood dream, by becoming archaeologists ourselves...

It's time for practice: building our Viking game "with the same techniques and materials" as them. And that's really classy! My husband is already planning to play with his friends, and especially to show off in front of them. For me, decorating my masterpiece is a pleasure in itself!

I feel a primal pride once our creations are finished. It must be the Viking spirit!

The rules are explained to us again and that's it, we play a game. With a challenge at the end: the loser will drive on the way back...
