In the vineyards, in freedom

A walk to really understand what makes Pic Saint-Loup wines so special.

Aleyrac - Lancyre

The idea may appeal to the older children, but the younger ones... not so sure...

Unless the walk gives you the impression of going on an adventure in the middle of the vineyards, map in hand... To find out for sure, we went on the trails of "Lancyre en liberté"!

"You can see it really well from there!

We meet up with our friends on a beautiful spring morning in the small hamlet of Lancyre, which is home to the estate of the same name, one of the jewels in the crown of the AOP Pic Saint-Loup appellation. As soon as they park in the car park, the children point their fingers in the direction of the Pic... "You can see it really well from there! Once they have the map of the walk in their hands, the tribe sets off on the signposted path that leads down into the vineyards.

We already know that there will be 12 illustrated panels punctuating our walk, so we must not miss them...

Further on, at the end of a vineyard, we come upon the Chapelle d'Aleyrac, a secret, enigmatic and truly peaceful place! The view of the Pic, the Hortus and the castle of Montferrand is superb and the fat grass invites you to take a nap... No time to fall asleep, the next panel tells us the legend of the Pic, the children imagine the scenes...

After a slight slope, a capitelle in good condition emerges at the edge of the vines, hidden in the middle of the oaks and another striking viewpoint is offered to us. On the way, we learn more about the grape varieties used, the particularities of the climate, the soil and the geology and we understand better that here, everything is gathered to make good wine!

It is impossible not to end our walk with a tasting, in the cool of the 16th century vaults of the cellar... A fascinating and entertaining walk, which has flavour... and meaning!
