Sliding on the Herault
The pleasure of the sun, the freshness of the water ... the ideal solution to discover secret swimming spots!
Sensations accessible to all...
First of all you have to choose your boat: kayak or canoe? For the more sporty, the single-seater kayak is the right choice. For couples and families, the more convivial two-seater canoe remains the most popular.
The itinerary is also to be decided; for a day trip, which combines the adrenaline of the rapids and the tranquillity of the meanders, a 10 to 15 km route will be perfect! But shorter routes are also available, more suitable for young children. Don't hesitate to ask the rental companies for advice, they know the routes by heart.
A must-see for the most avid skiers: the Laroque ramp! It is the spectacle of the village where the terraces of the restaurants have a magnificent view of the Hérault. The spectators applaud each passage as connoisseurs and sometimes do the Ola, in a good-natured and benevolent atmosphere.
Nature and landscapes...
We discover a wild and preserved nature, the landscapes are splendid, there is no human activity on the banks, only vegetation, rocks and the song of the cicadas.
Finally, the small beaches punctuate the route and are as many opportunities for picnics with their feet in the water and almost private bathing, away from everything, in a rare and precious calm.
You quickly get the hang of it and the synchronisation of the rowers in two-seaters encourages complicity. Gradually, the rapids are real moments of joy and laughter. Once the rhythm is found, the landscapes follow one another as the water goes by.
The change of scenery is guaranteed! Especially during the almost wild portion, between the communes of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois and Brissac...

Total disconnection...
An outing on the Hérault is often a day of total disconnection, in the heart of a magnificent and generous nature when you take the time to observe it!
The conviviality, the laughter, the softness of the clear water, the sun that accompanies us ... everything is there to feel far from the modern world. And even the return journey by minibus inevitably brings back some memories of a happy and carefree summer camp.
The essential advice: don't forget sun cream and sunglasses; once you've left, there are no shops on the way!
We would like to thank Canoës Montana and Canoës de la Vallée des Moulins de Bertrand for their guidance and explanations, and the Coq Noir agency for the photographs.
