“The Grand Pic Saint-Loup offers a wide variety of heritage sites to discover..."
Alain Poulet, President of l'association Pic Patrimoine
The Grand Pic Saint-Loup offers a great diversity of heritage sites to discover," explains Alain Poulet, president of the Pic Patrimoine association, "whether it be buildings such as the Notre-Dame d'Aleyrac chapel nestled in the heart of a vineyard in Sauteyrargues, or villages such as Les Matelles, Viols-le-Fort or Saint-Martin-de-Londres, which bear witness to the rich medieval past of our territory.
Pic Patrimoine is also working on referencing wells, capitelles, forged works, etc., while working on the current project for the emblematic monument of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup, the Château de Montferrand, which is now listed as a Historic Monument.

Thus, the workshop set up with the best stone mason in France, Frédéric Matan, to reconstitute certain openings in the castle is continuing.
Our next project will concern a medieval dyke in the Buèges valley. In fact, all 36 communes of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup are worth a visit, as each has its own character.

Pic Patrimoine aims to study, preserve and promote the natural, cultural, archaeological and architectural heritage of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup area.
Go in search of dolmens, push open the door of a Romanesque church, climb a castle, discover the work of glassmakers: all ideas for unique trips to the heart of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup heritage.
Some sites can be seen from afar, such as the château de Baulx in Saint-Jean-de-Buèges; others are well worth a visit, such as the château de Viviourès, in Rouet, perched 300 metres above the cliffs of the Hortus; still others are more confidential, such as the old couloubrines glassworks, in Ferrières-les-verreries.
