Claret is one of the stages of the Chemin des Verriers and preserves the practice of the "science" of glass through its craftsmen and its museum.
In the south, near Montpellier, glassmakers have been practising their art for more than 500 years, setting up their kilns according to the wood cuts. This long heritage is perpetuated today by several artists who have opened their workshops in Claret and the surrounding area, each using one or more techniques.
A must-see museum, La Halle du verre invites visitors to discover the history of this material, which has been known for more than five thousand years in the Mediterranean Arc.
Another know-how: the manufacture of "real" cade oil, of which the Distillerie des Cévennes is the last production unit in France.
The village is also home to a Romanesque church.
The square, with its well, is shady, cool and pleasant for the long summer days.
Around the village, you will discover some old alleys, shops and typical houses built during the expansion of the vineyard in the 19th century.
